Five Element Nutrition
In Chinese nutrition the emphasis is not placed so much on the quality of the food (healthy or unhealthy), but rather on the quantity of the food (too much or too little). According to the Five Element theory, we gain energy from the food we eat. Nutrition helps to build up the physical body, as well as vitality. It also helps us to recover (yin and yang) and thus prevents diseases. The holistic approach of Chinese medicine requires a diet rich in many different kinds of foods.
